[01] Eroglu insists on bi-zonality, Turkish Cypriot peoples sovereignty and motherland Turkeys guarantees

Turkish Cypriot daily Haberdar newspaper (16.08.12) reports that Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu has alleged that those who think that they will abolish bi-zonality in Cyprus, ignore the so-called Turkish Cypriot peoples sovereignty and water down motherland Turkeys active and effective guarantees are mistaken. Addressing a ceremony yesterday, Eroglu said they were refreshing their memory so that history is not repeated and days of pain are not experienced again.

Referring to those who think that they will be able to discourage the Turkish Cypriots by continuing to use the EU for their dreams, Eroglu argued that the Turkish Cypriots had not surrendered even when they were hungry and unarmed, and alleged: While we have a territory where we live in security under our state now, we will not regress and could not endanger ourselves and our future.

Eroglu said it should be known that if serious steps towards the solution of the Cyprus problem are not taken after the presidential elections in the Republic of Cyprus and if a time limit is not put in the negotiations, the Turkish Cypriot side will undertake an overall new and intensive effort for getting rid of the so-called embargoes. He added: We are not helpless. We have a state. Motherland Turkey recognizes us and it is by our side. We will continue to work in unity and solidarity in order to exalt our state and increase the prosperity of our peopleWe are sincere. If they are sincere, let them come and let us work to make a sound agreement based on the realities.

Meanwhile, Haberdar (16.08.12) reports also that addressing the ceremony of lieutenant general Ismail Serdar Savas taking over the command of the Turkish occupation army, Eroglu claimed that they are ready for an agreement, but this agreement should be based on the existing realities. He noted that they will not say yes to an unacceptable solution only for the sake of hearing bravo by the world. He said that they agreed with President Gul, Prime Minister Erdogan and Foreign Minister Davutoglu and they will take some steps together if a short time after the presidential elections in the Republic of Cyprus the so-called Greek Cypriot intransigence and delaying tactics do not end.

Eroglu said that the existence of the Turkish occupation army in Cyprus has great importance for the security of the Turkish Cypriots and Turkey as well as for the balances and peace in the region.

Moreover, Haberdar (15.08.12) reported that addressing ceremonies in occupied Maratha, Aloa, Sandalaris and Catoz villages, Eroglu alleged that we could reach nowhere as long as the reality that two separate states with their language and religion exist in Cyprus and the Greek Cypriots dream of returning to the pre-1974 period.

Eroglu said that they will continue their efforts for achieving a solution for one year the most, and added that within this period they should be able to see clearly whether the agreement they want could be achieved. If it could be done, we will be pleased, if not, they should take their way and we should take our way, he noted.

Eroglu alleged that the second phase of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus was inevitable, and that with this phase the geography on which the TRNC is established was created. He said he was negotiating on behalf of the Turkish Cypriots determined to make the TRNC state live.

Eroglu alleged that July and August 1974 are the months during which the Turkish Cypriots returned to life. Referring to the Cyprus talks, he argued that the negotiations are now frozen, that the Turkish Cypriots want the intensification of the negotiations after the presidential elections in the Republic of Cyprus and alleged that if there is no agreement, the Turkish Cypriots should not pay the price for this.

Addressing the ceremony, Savas said that their most sacred duty would be to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the TRNC at any cost.

I want to declare in your presence that we are determined and confident on this issue, he noted referring to the Turkish Cypriot leader Eroglu, the self-styled prime minister Kucuk, the self-styled speaker of the assembly Bozer, the former Turkish Cypriot leader Talat and the chairman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Yorgancioglu who were attending the ceremony.

[03] Self-styled ministers participated in the 4th Extraordinary Summit of OIC

Illegal Turkish Cypriot Bayrak television (15.08.12, online) broadcast that the TRNC, breakaway regime in the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, was represented by a delegation headed by self-styled minister of finance Ersin Tatar in the 4th Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Mecca where the developments in Syria were discussed. Noting that the summit was held after an invitation sent by Saudi Arabian King Abdullah to representatives of 56 countries, Bayrak reported that Ersin Tatar said that with the invitation and the representation in the summit, the TRNC has taken its rightful place within the Islamic countries.

He said that the Turkish Cypriot delegation was received in the same manner with the other member states of the OIC and added: Taking our place in the Islamic world thanks to the closeness of OICs General Secretary Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu to the TRNC is an important development.

Within the framework of his contacts in Mecca, Tatar met with Ihsanoglu and the President of the Islamic Development Bank Dr. Muhammed Ali. Self-styled minister of economy and energy, Sunat Atun, the head of the OIC office at the self-styled ministry of foreign affairs, Kemal Koprulu and the self-styled ambassador of the breakaway regime to Ankara, Mustafa Lakadamyali participated in the Turkish Cypriot delegation.

[04] Yildiz refers to TPAOs drilling for oil in the occupied area of Cyprus

Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (16.08.12) reports that Turkish Minister of Energy and natural Resources Taner Yildiz has stated that the drilling works of Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) in the occupied area of Cyprus continue and that they will reach a depth of 4.000 meters.

In statements during a visit of a well in Adiyaman in Turkey, Yildiz said that they do not want to give a surprise news before the completion of the drilling in occupied Cyprus and noted that they reached a depth of 3.600 meters until now and that they will go up to 4.000 meters.

Noting that they will share with the public the results of their works in Cyprus, Yildiz concluded by saying the following: Oil could come out or could not come out from there. We have signed an agreement for a new well. TPAO is adding another working area to its licensed fields in Cyprus. We will continue to work there. Our works in the sea also continue. God willing, I believe that, sooner or later, we will take a result there.

The paper recalls that TPAO is carrying out drilling works at occupied Syngrasi village and last month it was granted a license by the breakaway regime to start drilling in occupied Morfou area.

The paper argues that the association had exhausted the local remedies last year by giving the names of these persons to the Republic of Cyprus Attorney Generals Office and by making an official complaint without taking a result.

In statements to Haberdar, the chairman of the association, Ahmet Asir said that they handed over their files to the ECHR three months ago and that they are waiting for their examination. He argued that they wanted justice and the punishment of those who killed 126 of their people.

The deputy's family had said the politician was with military police after PKK operatives led him through a mountainous area and then left him to walk by himself to a village within sight of the point where he was released.

Once he reached the post, Tunceli prosecutors called Aygun and asked him to share details about his ordeal. Gul pointed that all OIC members should do everything they can in the shortest time possible for swift conclusion of the period after al-Assad.

He also added that they should not fall into the trap of "Shiite-Sunni sect wars" and they should be careful as sect wars would harm the humanistic and material sources of the Islamic world and drag it into the darkness of middle ages.
