Erdogan's statement that he considers Israel as a threat in the region because it has atomic bombs is the main topic in all today's Turkish dailies. Turkish parliament's authorization to the government for cross border operation in Iraq, the Turkish Central Bank's move to intervene to the overvalued USD against Turkish Lira, and other domestic issues are also covered in the Turkish press today.

[01] A conflict between Eroglu and Kucuk

According to the paper, Eroglu spoke first, accused Kucuk's "government" and created a bigger gap in their relations. Speaking to the media yesterday, Eroglu harshly criticized the economic policies of Kucuk's "government" and the bad financial situation in the occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus. He also said that "early elections" might be held.

Replying to Eroglu's statements, Kucuk said that Eroglu is responsible for the economic package implemented today in the occupied area. He explained that the economic "protocol" was signed between Turkey and the occupation regime, when Eroglu was "prime minister" and was first implemented in Kucuk's period as "prime minister". Kucuk also accused Eroglu of not taking any serious measure for the economic situation when he was "prime minister".

Referring to the issue of "early elections", Kucuk said that some conditions should be met in order for early "elections" to be held in a country and added that there is no reason to talk about it now. However, he added that the National Unity Party (UBP) is the party, which is more ready than any other party for "early elections".

On the same issue, Serdar Denktas - leader of the Democratic Party (DP) ? reiterated his party's view for "early elections" and called on UBP to prove its readiness.

[02] CTP and TDP decided to vote against the "continental shelf delimitation agreement" signed between Turkey and the breakaway regime

Under the title "Our existence and will were ignored", Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Duzen (06.10.11) reports that the assembly of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) convened yesterday and decided to vote against the "continental shelf delimitation agreement".

According to the decision of the party's assembly, in which it is noted that the Cyprus problem is in a very critical state, the following main points are stressed regarding the reasons that led CTP to decide to vote against the "agreement".

The agreement ignored the existence, the identity and the will of the Turkish Cypriots.

The "president" exceeded his "authorities" and the "parliament" was left outside the decision making process.

The content of the "agreement" does not protect the rights and the interests of the Turkish Cypriots.

Great disrespect was shown to the will of the "parliament".

The "agreement" will not contribute to the solution process.

The primary and the most unfailing aim of the CTP is the solution of the Cyprus problem.

The "Greek Cypriot Administration" as the Republic of Cyprus is described, behaved in an irresponsible manner that will create difficulties in the solution process and continued its explorations for oil. The Turkish side with its stance has committed the same mistake.

[03] Yildirim's illegal visit to occupied Cyprus

Delivering a speech in the ceremony, Saner said that "TRNC" [the breakaway region in occupied Cyprus] provided high-quality and safe air traffic services thanks to Systematic Modernization of Air Traffic Management (SMART) system at illegal Tymvou airport, stating that the Republic of Cyprus could also benefit from the SMART system. "The Greek Cypriot aviation sector has several shortcomings and Greek Cypriots could also use the SMART system of TRNC," he claimed. Saner also said that the ILS would cost 3.6 million Turkish Liras and be completed in March 2012.

Turkish Transportation Minister Yildirim said that the Instrument Landing System, ground-based radio system, designed to provide an airplane pilot with precise guidance for the final approach in landing even under poor weather conditions. Yildirim said that they aimed to develop the illegal airport more and make it a regional one. Yildirim alleged that Saner's proposal to the Republic of Cyprus showed once again that "TRNC always chose to share," adding that the Greek Cypriot side "must change its mentality and take steps in favour of peace in the island."

Kucuk, also speaking on the occasion, claimed that the breakaway regime always made well-intentioned initiatives but the Greek Cypriots did not respond to them.

Later on, Yildirim met separately with the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu and the so-called prime minister Irsen Kucuk in occupied Lefkosia.

Eroglu said that they started to get results from the "continental shelf delineation agreement" [signed recently by Turkey and the breakaway regime in New York], stating that "signatures gave the message that the Greek Cypriots could not do whatever they wanted". Additionally, he thanked Turkey's Transportation Minister for his great contributions to the breakaway regime.

On his part, Yildirim said that Turkey was determined to preserve the rights and interests of "TRNC".

[04] Ozgurgun's contacts in Ankara

During his speech, Ozgurgun claimed that "if there is not a Cyprus settlement until July 2012, when South Cyprus [Tr. note: Republic of Cyprus] will take over the EU term-presidency, the window of opportunity will close". He added: "Our aim is to reach a solution before this date, so that the new partnership state will take over the EU presidency."

Moreover, Ozgurgun attended a dinner on Monday night hosted by Turkey's EU Minister and Negotiator Egemen Bagis for the members of the Independent Commission on Turkey, in Ankara. Former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands and former EU Commissioner Hans Van de Broek, former Foreign Minister of Austria Albert Rohan, former German President of Saxony territory Kurt Hans Biedenkopf, former French Prime minister Michel Rocard, deputy Chairman of Italian Senate and former EU Commissioner Emma Bonino, as well as the representative of the occupation regime in Ankara Mustafa Lakadamyali were also present at the dinner.

Addressing the dinner, Bagis said that the Independent Commission on Turkey always supports the full membership of Turkey into the EU with its reports and statements. He also said: "We as Turkey see ourselves as a kitchen of reforms".

Bagis introduced Ozgurgun to his guests, and said that Ozgurgun is an influential politician in the occupied areas. Claiming that these days everybody in the Greek Cypriot side is engaged with accusing each other, Bagis argued that the guests can be briefed by Ozgurgun on what is going on in the Mediterranean lately.

Moreover, Ankara Anatolia news agency (06.10.11) reports from Ankara that Turkey's Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek met today with Ozgurgun. The meeting was inaccessible to the press.

[05] Davutoglu meets with Ozgurgun in Ankara

After the meeting, Davutoglu stated, inter alia, the following: "We have reached a historical turning point in Cyprus. Negotiations have been under way and TRNC [Tr. note: the breakaway regime] has been exerting great efforts for a lasting and comprehensive peace. Turkey extended every kind of assistance with regard to the negotiations and would continue to do so."

Regarding the Republic of Cyprus' exploration for oil and natural gas, Davutoglu alleged that such explorations are against international law, before the ongoing negotiations carried out by the Turkish and are Greek Cypriots are concluded. Davutoglu claimed that the negotiations conducted under the auspices of the UN should be completed first and a united Cyprus state should be re-established on the basis of the two founder states. Resources belonged to all people living in Cyprus, he said.

Ozgurgun said that they had a comprehensive meeting with Davutoglu. "There has been a great cooperation between Turkey and TRNC. [...] TRNC is glad that Turkey extended a great support to TRNC during this challenging period," he said.

[06] Bagis: "Israel is using the Greek Cypriot side"

Speaking to a televised program, Bagis referred to the EU term Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus and said that conditions are not met for Turkey to sit at the same table with the Republic of Cyprus.

Bagis went on and alleged that the Greek Cypriot administration, as he referred to the Republic of Cyprus uses all kind of tricks before the release of Turk's "EU Progress Report".

Bagis further said that in case of any action in Cyprus Turkey will show its reaction.

Regarding the launching of the oil exploration activities, Bagis said that this initiative "aims at spoiling peace in the region", especially in a period that a timetable has been set by the UN's Secretary-General and efforts are exerted for the Cyprus talks to be intensified.

[07] Piri Reis is preparing for the second stage of its exploration

The paper also writes that the vessel approached up to five miles the oil drilling platform in which the American Noble Energy company is conducting its works on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus.

The ship has completed the first stage of its research and casted anchor in the occupied Famagusta port for refuelling and resupplying.

[08] Self-styled ministers visit Turkey

Ustel will be accompanied by its "undersecretary" Sahap Asikoglu and the "director" of its personal office, Ilgen Bagcier.

According to a statement released by the "ministry", Ustel and Gunay will inaugurate the photography and art exhibition called "The TRNC through photographs and pictures of the Turkish World".

Meanwhile, the same paper reports that the so-called minister of agriculture and natural resources, Ali Cetin Amcaoglu arrived in Istanbul in order to participate in the "6th Ministerial Meeting for the Food Security and Agriculture Development" of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

[09] Kasif represented the breakaway regime at an OIC's meeting in Kazakhstan

In a statement released by his "ministry", it is stated Kasif's contacts were beneficial. Kasif said that he had the opportunity to have a short meeting with the Health Minister of Bangladesh and the Deputy Minister of Health of Saudi Arabia and he was informed about the health system and the experiences of both countries.

Kasif stated further that at the end of the conference, the delegation of the "TRNC" and Kazakhstan held a fruitful meeting. He said that he met with the Health Minister of Kazakhstan, S. Kairbekova who expressed the wish for cooperation to take place between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the "TRNC" in the field of health.

[10] Diplomas of illegal UKU were accredited by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris (06.10.11) reports that accreditation was given to the diplomas of the illegal International Cyprus University (UKU) by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Researches of Iraq.

In addition, a new protocol of cooperation was also signed between UKU and the Cultural attach? of the Iraqi embassy for students' exchanges, scholarships, Master and PhD programs.

[11] Chinese academics in the occupied area of Cyprus

According to the paper, the conference is organized by the Faculty of Communication of the illegal DAU and the Press Labourer's Trade Union (BASIN-SEN) together with the cooperation of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication of the Tsinghua University of China.

As the paper writes, the Chinese delegation visited yesterday several media organizations in the occupied areas of Cyprus.

[12] Turkish parliament approved motion on cross-border operations

The Turkish government presented the motion authorizing itself to stage cross-border operations to the Office of Parliament Speaker on September 27. The motion allows the government to stage cross-border operations into the north of Iraq in order to take necessary measures in line with international law and as part of the fight against terrorism, and to eliminate terrorist threats and attacks. It also extends the government's mandate to stage cross-border operations for another year, starting on October 17, 2011. The motion was first brought up to parliament in 2007, and it was extended twice in 2008 and 2009.

Moreover, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, addressing the parliament regarding the motion, said: "We are determined to pursue new strategies under new conditions. The basic goal of these strategies is security and freedom for everyone. We don't see any contradiction between security and freedom". Davutoglu noted that they were resolute to advance on democracy despite terrorism, adding: "We will do what is necessary to keep our people safe."

[13] Somali victims of bomb attack in Mogadishu are transferred to Turkey for treatment

Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on Wednesday Somali President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, and offered his condolences over Tuesday's bomb attack. During the phone talks, Erdogan and Ahmed agreed to bring 30 people who were wounded in the blast to Turkey for treatment.

Terrorists detonated a truck bomb on Tuesday in front of the education ministry in Somalia's capital as students and parents crowded around to learn about scholarships, killing at least 70 people and wounding dozens. TURKISH AFFAIRS SECTION http://www.moi.gov.cy/pio
