[01] Statements by Talat on the Action Plan

President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that the restrictions imposed on Turkish Cypriots by the `Greek Cypriot Administration´ will not last long as they were not being supported by the international community any more.

Speaking during a visit paid to him today, the `President´ said that the Greek Cypriot Sides intransigent approach towards the solution of the Cyprus problem is blocking the way for a settlement to the problem.

Asked to comment on words by the Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul that Ankara would shelve the Cyprus issue if the `Greek Cypriot Administration´ rejected Turkeys latest Action Plan on Cyprus, the President said that the Greek Cypriot Side was against all attempts aimed at lifting the isolation on the Turkish Cypriot `people´.

Complaining that the Greek Cypriot Side has been rejecting all proposals put forward on the Cyprus issue, `President´ Talat said that the Greek Cypriot Sides rejection of the proposals has been causing reactions within the international community.

`The Turkish Foreign Ministers reaction was within this context`, he said, adding that it wasnt just Mr Gul but the whole international community reacting to the Greek Cypriot Administrations intransigent approach towards the issue.

Accusing the `Greek Cypriot Administration´ of insulting the `Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus´, he said that as a member of the European Union, the Greek Cypriot Side has been playing an important role in the international community but this will not be lasting long.

[02] Mr Talat calls on the Turkish Cypriots to be calm

Mr Talat visited today the Incirli (occupied Makrasyka) village, where the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu was tested as positive.

Criticizing the `Greek Cypriot administration´ for taking absurd measures at the check-points, the Mr Talat said the main aim is to cause the Turkish Cypriot economy to collapse.

Mr Mehmet Ali Talat visited this afternoon the Incirli village and exchanged views with the villagers after samples tested in Turkey and Britain confirmed that the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu is positive.

Mr Talat stressed that all needed measures have been taken by the government at the village and no one is infected with the disease.

Calling on the Greek Cypriot side to cooperate on the issue, the Mr Talat underlined the fact that the problem can never be solved by acting as if there is no case in the free areas of Cyprus.

It is thought-provoking that there is no bird-flu case in the South as it comes from the sky, he concluded.

[03] Gul left for London. Statements with reference to the Cyprus problem

Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul left for Britain on Monday to attend the London Conference at which a new strategy and targets would be determined regarding the political and economic transformation of Afghanistan in the next five years.

Holding a news conference at Ankara's Esenboga Airport prior to his departure, Gul said: ''Afghanistan has been currently living through a political process. Afghanistan needs more support from the international community to its economic and social problems. Due to its historical and humanitarian ties, Turkey has undertaken pioneering roles in all international efforts aiming to ensure peace and prosperity in Afghanistan. Therefore, we attach great importance to the London Conference.''

Upon a question about the Cyprus issue, Gul said: ''A number of countries extended support to our action plan. They said that they would evaluate the plan seriously. Also, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has been assessing the plan. Turkey has launched a significant initiative and put forward an important proposal.''

''Turkey has taken a further step, and the international community appreciated it. However, the other parties should display a cooperative approach to put it into practice,'' he said.

Gul added that he would also hold a brief talk with U.S. Secretary of State Condolezza Rice.

[04] Statements by the US Ambassador Ross Wilson to Turkish NTV

Referring to Cyprus, NTV-MSNBC notes the following:

Noting that the opening of Turkey in Cyprus was very important, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Ankara, Ross Wilson said that the developments from now on depend on the Greek Cypriot side.

The US Ambassador to Ankara, Ross Wilson replied to Murat Akguns questions on a live broadcast of NTV. Wilson said that Turkey and the USA are in close cooperation and that this will continue in the process after that.

Replying to the questions of Murat Akgun on a live broadcast of NTV, the US Ambassador to Ankara Wilson said that the opening which Turkey made on Cyprus was very important. Wilson stated that the success of the new action plan of Turkey on the Cyprus issue depends on the steps that the Greek Cypriot side will make. Wilson said: The Greek Cypriot administration must at least show to the UN Secretary General on what grounds it is ready to take steps.

[05] A delegation of the self-styled Assembly will fly to Ankara for contacts

A delegation from the `Republics Assembly´ led by the Democratic Party MP Ertugrul Hasipoglu will fly to Ankara tomorrow for a series of contacts.

Members of the `Republics Assembly´ Committee of Administrative and Social Affairs will be meeting the Turkish Minister of Work and Social Security Murat Baseskioglu and other high-level `officials´.

Meanwhile, the `Minister of Agriculture and Forestry´ Huseyin Oztoprak will also fly to Ankara tomorrow.

He will be meeting the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Mehti Eker.

In line with his contacts, Mr Oztoprak is expected to sign a protocol with the Turkish officials on the struggle of vineyards.

[06] Mr Michael Moller met today the Committee on Missing pesons

The special representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to Cyprus and Chief of UNFICYP Michael Moller met today the Committee on Missing Persons.

A written statement from the United Nations Peace Keeping Force in Cyprus said that the aim of the meeting was to introduce the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot representatives of the committee.

[07] The work for bringing water to occupied areas of Cyprus from Turkey in pipelines is continuing

The work for bringing water in the `Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus´ from Turkey through pipelines is continuing.

Officials from ALARKO limited briefed today the `government officials´ on the issue.

`Prime Minister´ Ferdi Sabit Soyer, `Deputy Prime Minister´ Serdar Denktas , the Turkish `ambassador´ to Lefkosia Aydan Karahan, the `Minister of Finance´ Ahmet Uzun , the `Minister of Internal Affairs´ Ozkan Murat, and the `Minister of Agriculture and Forestry´ Huseyin Oztoprak attended the briefing.

Speaking before the meeting, `Prime Minister´ Ferdi Sabit Soyer pointed to the importance of the project, saying that it is not only important for the `Republic´ but also for the whole region.

[08] The Turkish Cyprus State will attend ETI meetings in Tehran as observer

The paper reports that, the breakaway regime will be represented by the self-styled Director of the Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs, the Director of the Foreign Ministry, Feridun Kemal Feridun, the self-styled Sectional Head of the follow up and `Coordination Department of the State Planning Organization, Buse Erozan, Head of the Social Planning Department Canev Ortay and 3rd Secretary of the self-styled Foreign Ministry, Gunes Onar.

KIBRIS reports that, the breakaway regime is represented in the ETI meetings as the Turkish Cyprus State and with an observer status.

[09] Dead birds were found in occupied Mia Milia village spreading panic among the people

As the paper writes one dead chicken was found in the village and after that a wild duck was also found dead in a small dairy in the area. The persons called the self-styled veterinary department in occupied Cyprus, to collect the wild duck, but as they said, the officials arrived three hours after they were called.
