    [01] The US ambassador to Nicosia will make a speech on the Annan Plan in the occupied areas

    Under the title ^ÓKlosson must sweat before courageous jurists^Ô, Turkish Cypriot daily VOLKAN newspaper (29.09.03) reports that upon invitation by the Turkish Cypriot ^ÓBar^Ô, the US ambassador to Nicosia, Michael Klosson will make a speech tomorrow on the Annan Plan in the occupied areas.

    The paper writes that in this manner, the Turkish Cypriot lawyers, who ^Ófor months are trying to inform the Turkish Cypriot public opinion^Ô regarding the ^Ótraps^Ô in the plan, will have the opportunity to ^Óinterrogate^Ô Mr Klosson.

    VOLKAN publishes the above-mentioned information in its main editorial written by its editor-in-chief, Sabahattin Ismail, who under a picture of Mr Klosson writes: ^ÓKlosson has stripped for the fray of being an advocate of the Annan Plan, which is the second Akritas Plan^Ô.

    [02] Ali Erel calls on the opposition parties to boycott the illegal Bayrak TV

    Turkish Cypriot daily KIBRIS newspaper (29.09.03) reports that Ali Erel, leader of the Solution and EU Party (SEUP), has accused the illegal Bayrak TV and Radio of creating ^Ópollution of information^Ô and of laying traps for the Turkish Cypriot opposition parties.

    In a written statement issued on Saturday, Mr Erel called on the opposition parties to boycott illegal Bayrak, which is trying to deceive the Turkish Cypriot community, by inviting to its programs persons who oppose peace in Cyprus and speak against it using groundless allegations.

    [03] Turkish Cypriot newspaper expresses doubts whether the presence of observers will be useful for the so-called elections

    Turkish Cypriot daily KIBRISLI newspaper (28.09.03) reports that the United States of America intensify their efforts to send observers to the December ^Óelections^Ô in the occupied areas, while ^Óthe supporters of the status quo continue their ^Ò24-hour citizenship^Ò operation in order to make fraud in the elections^Ô.

    The paper goes on and says:

    ^ÓNo one knows how there is going to be ^Ñobservation^Ò in northern Cyprus where illegality and arbitrary administration prevails. ^Å There are operations for granting citizenship within 24 hours everywhere. Now those who want to give citizenship personally visit people. Unknown persons walking around visit people from Turkey and offer them citizenship. ^ÅOur correspondents were eye witnesses of such events during the last couple of days^Å^Ô.

    [04] Turkey^Òs Court of Appeal found guilty the former DEHAP administrators

    Turkish mainland HURRITET newspaper (29.09.03, internet version) reports that the Supreme Court of Appeal in Turkey decided today that Mehmet Abbasoglu, former chairman of pro-Kurdish DEHAP and three other administrators of the party are guilty as charged of ^Ómaking forgery to an official document^Ô showing their party as legally being organized before the 3 November 2002 elections.

    The paper writes that after the decision the attention is turned to the Supreme Election Council, which has the final say on the issue of any objections regarding the 3 November parliamentary elections.

    Mr Abbasoglu, former General Secretary of the party, Nurettin Sonmez, former General Secretary Ayhan Demir and former chairman Veysi Aydin were sentenced to 1 year, eleven months and eleven days in prison.

    [05] Ertugruloglu stated that the support towards pseudostate´s full membership to the Islamic Conference is increased

    Turkish Cypriot daily CUMHURIYET newspaper (28.09.03) reports, that Mr Tahsin Ertugruloglu, so-called Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the pseudostate, stated that the support towards the full membership of the pseudostate in the Islamic Conference Organization (ICO) is increased.

    Mr Ertugruloglu said that on the 11th of October, when the ICO´s conference will take place in Putrajaya, Malaysia, a proposal may be addressed to the pseudostate in order to become full member. Asked about the efforts being made by the Cyprus Republic to prevent such a development, Mr Ertugruloglu said that he is aware of these and alleged that the pseudostate´s plans will not be harmed.
