    [01] Denktash arrives in Ankara

``The Cyprus issue has been kept on the right track thanks to the close interest the Turkish press has shown in the Cyprus issue, the excitement it created, and the messages it conveyed to the world with its correct and true reprots''.

According to Ankara, TRT Television (15.7.99) the statement was made by Rauf Denktash on his arrival at Ankara to participate in a special TGNA session. Denktash said that the extraordinary session of the TGNA on the ``25th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation'' gives the Turkish Cypriots great strength.

Bulent Ecevit, who received Denktash at the airport, said this will be an occasion for Turkey to display to the whole world its determination on the issue of the ``TRNC''.

Before leaving for Ankara Denktash is reported to have expressed the hope that an invitation to resume the talks from where they were left, will not be issued. The UN Secretary General, Denktash added, has to think about a new formula to bring the Cyprus problem to a level ground. Denktash said he is ready to hold talks on interstate basis.
