[01] Utkan on postponement of defense talks with France, S-300's

Addressing the weekly news conference, Utkan said: "We have a strong wish that the draft resolution would not be legalized. We have a process and it is obvious that this process is not concluded".

Turkey and the French Aerospatiale company signed a pre-agreement in March worth 450 million dollars on the joint production of Eryx antitank missiles in Turkey. The agreement was foreseen to be signed between the Defense Ministry and the Aerospatiale company last week at the Satory defense fair in France.

Utkan said news reports that the draft resolution related with the Armenian genocide would not be taken into the agenda of the Senate should be met "cautiously".

Utkan noted that "such allegations were made earlier, yet the legalization of the draft resolution is different. This is such a grave situation that France is undertaking responsibility, and we do our best to prevent this".

Responding to a question, Utkan said no response came from France to the letters sent by the Turkish authorities except for the letter of Hikmet Cetin, parliament speaker.

Replying to another question, Utkan said, "we call on the Armenian administration to act with responsibility and moderation for the peace and stability of the region".

Utkan also said that Turkey received no official information related with the news reports that the delivery of the S-300 missiles, which the Greek Cypriot side wants to purchase from Russia, was postponed.

The Foreign Ministry Spokesman claimed that the S-300 missiles are an element of threat and that it was very natural to take measures when a threat is forwarded.

Utkan said, "all parts of the missiles should be complete in order to be functional".

[02] Seven Syrians cheated by Lebanese fisherman, taken to shores of occupied area instead of free areas

The Lebanese fisherman received one thousand USD for each person he carried on his boat.

KIBRIS adds that the Syrians realised that they were cheated when they were arrested by the "police" of the occupation regime.

The paper reports that a three-day remand order was issued by the so-called court for further investigation of the matter. They will be "tried" for illegal entry to the occupied area.

The seven Syrians are: Abdullatif Safar (24), Muhammed Raslan (43), Muhamad Safar (34), Abuljabar Safar (27), Yaser Ali Shiekh (24) and Cihad El Macid (23). (MY)

[03] Early Bronze Age tomb discovered

The paper says that the unearthed arlifacts and implements are 4200 years old.

KIBRIS also says that the discovery was made by chance, when a villager was travelling on his tractor on the dirt road and at one point, three kilometres west of the Church of Kyra, the road gave in and the tomb was discovered.

[04] "International Trade Fair" in the occupied area

The paper reports that a total of 113 firms, 40 of which are Turkish firms, will exhibit their products in the fair.
