He also called for preparations to convene a "national congress".In a written statement he issued today, he recalled that the EU invited the Turkish Cypriots to join the Greek Cypriot delegation which is considered to be representing Cyprus. He pointed out that this danger is beyond the danger of the missiles and that everyone must realize that. Denktash claimed that the EU is pursuing a wrong path, not the path of justice. He said: "The EU does not realize that it cannot eliminate rights granted by international agreements. It claims that the Turkish Cypriots do not have the right to reject or obstruct Cyprus' application for membership. In this way, it aims at condemning us to a minority position in a Cyprus republic, to break the contractual tires that exist between Turkey and Cyprus, and to open all of Cyprus' doors to Greece.
