Otherwise, he claimed, the Turkish Cypriots will face elimination.Denktash met with members of the Employers Union and in a speech at the meeting, he said that the current condition of the Cyprus problem should force everyone to conduct full cooperation. He stressed that everyone should make sacrifices in the transition period. He said: "It is beneficial to stress that we are in a very dangerous situation." Denktash alleged that the Greek Cypriot arms buildup, the military agreements the Greek Cypriots signed with Greece and Russia, the agreement to bring in experts, and the attitude of Greece and Syria toward Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots are serious developments that must certainly not be ignored. Denktash claimed that joining the EU without Turkey would mean the annihilation of the Turkish Cypriots. He said: "These are the issues I stress and in which I am interested. I do not want to get involved in other things, because when I say the truth in domestic affairs, certain circles who fail to see the danger accuse me of playing politics." [02] Russia ready to assist in the Cyprus problemAccording to illegal Bayrak radio (14.5.96) Vladimir Lukin, chairman of the State Duma Committee on international, affairs met with the Chairman of the Greek Parliament Apostolos Kaklamanis, while the latter was on an official visit in Moscow.The sides emphasized that Russia's membership of the Council of Europe opens new possibilities for the development of Russian-Greek cooperation. During the talks, the sides raised the Cyprus issue. Lukin emphasized that "Russia is always ready to make its contribution to the peace process connected with the Cyprus settlement." He also assured Kaklamanis that Russian parliamentarians would welcome all civilized ways of settling the issue and "there is no dispute about it in the State Duma." [03] Turkish Cypriot delegation to visit AnkaraAccording to KIBRIS (14.5.96) the so-called State Minister and deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat, the so-called Economy and Finance Minister Salih Cosar and the so-called governor of the Central Bank of the pseudostate Demirhan Sayiner will be leaving the occupied area for Ankara to have contacts on economic issues and to sign a "protocol".KIBRIS reports that the invitation to visit Ankara came from Turkey's State Minister Responsible for Cyprus Affairs Mrs. Ayfer Yilmaz.
