    [B] COMMENTS AND EDITORIALS

[06] Occupied area a heaven for burglaries

Hasan Kahvecioglu writing in ORTAM (10.5.96) under the title "A heaven for burglaries" says: "At last, after 22 years we have succeeded in turning North Cyprus into a heaven. We have turned it into a heaven for burglaries where burglars and thieves from Turkey 'proudly' claim in court that our laws are 'not severe' and that the Turkish Cypriots are cowards".

Kahvecioglu goes on to say that thieves in Turkey try to acquire one or two pistols and a mask and then they immediately head for the occupied area to engage in burglaries since they consider the occupied area as a heaven for burglaries, its laws as not severe and its people as cowards.

Kahvecioglu "congratulates" the Turkish Cypriot leadership for succeeding in turning the occupied area into a heaven for burglaries. (MY)
