[01] Reference to Cyprus in the programme of the 53rd Turkish Government

According to YENIDUZEN (8.3.96) Turkey's new Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz yesterday read his government's programme before the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

In the programme reference is made to the solution of the Cyprus problem. It states: "We support the UN negotiation process that aims at solving the Cyprus problem on a bizonal, bicommunal federal basis through holding direct talks between the two communities of the island." (MY)
