    [A] NEWS ITEMS

  • [01] Atun said forced to make acting "appointments"

According to illegal Bayrak radio (16:00 hours, 6.11.95), the so-called Prime Minister of the pseudostate Hakki Atun has said that Ozkan Murat, "labour and social security minister", will be "acting state minister and deputy prime minister."

In a statement yesterday, Atun said that Mehmet Ali Talat, "national education and culture minister", will be "acting minister of agriculture, natural resources, and energy". He said that, as "prime minister", he will be in charge of the "health ministry".

Hakki Atun said that he reached these decisions after consulting with "chief prosecutor" Akin Sait in connection with the legal situation that arose with the resignation of the three "ministers". Atun said that the "government" is in charge, and that in order to maintain continuity in "state" affairs, he was forced to appoint "acting ministers" from among other "ministers". These so-called acting appointments will be in force until new "appointments" are made.

[02] Turkish Cypriot "Jaycees Association" in Glasgow for world congress

According to KIBRIS (6.11.95) a seven-man delegation from the so-called Turkish Cypriot Young Businessmen Association (Jaycees) left the occupied area for Glasgow, Scotland, to attend the Jaycees 50th World Congress.

The so-called chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Jaycees Omac Cin said that their association's world membership will be discussed during this congress. (MY)
