[01] India seeks air communication with Cyprus
The Indian government has expressed, through its High Commissioner to
Cyprus Mr Pavan Kumar Varma, an interest in establishing air relations with
Cyprus. The Indian High Commissioner told the Cyprus Minister of Communications
and Works, Mr Kikis Kazamias, in their meeting yesterday, that India wished
to cooperate with Cyprus in the field of air communication, as the island
could serve as a transit stop and/or a final destination for incoming
flights from India.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
[02] Italy hands over ancient coins to Cyprus Government
The Italian government will hand over 161 ancient coins to Cyprus, as the
lawful owner of the treasure. The coins, belonging to the 4th century B.C.,
were discovered in illicit excavations and were illegally exported from the
island. The relic was posted on the web, but the Italian authorities were
successful in impeding its sale. The Italian Education and Culture Minister
will hand the ancient coins to Cyprus' Minister of Communications and Works,
Mr Kikis Kazamias, in a special ceremony tomorrow, 23 April, at 16:00 at
the Cyprus Museum.
