[01] National Council convenes to evaluate first round of direct talks on
Cyprus
The President of the Republic Mr Glafcos Clerides presided over a meeting
of the National Council yesterday.
The Council, which is the top advisory body to the President on the Cyprus
problem, convened to hear President Clerides' assessment of the first round
of the UN-led direct talks, which began on 16 January 2002 between
President Clerides and the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mr
Denktash. The National Council will convene again on Wednesday 27 February,
at 4.30 pm to continue its discussions and evaluation.
[02] Cyprus Minister of Commerce meets with Minister of Industries and
International Business of Seychelles
The Minister of Commerce Industry and Tourism Mr Nicos Rolandis had a
meeting yesterday with the Minister of Industries and International
Business of the Republic of Seychelles Mr Jacqueline Dugasse. The
Representative of the Seychelles International Business Authority and the
Managing Director of Price Waterhouse and Coopers Mr M. Zambellas, were
also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the two Ministers discussed ways of further enhancing
relations between Cyprus and the Seychelles in the fields of trade,
industry and tourism. In the discussions, special emphasis was given to
exchange of experiences and handling of common problems in relation to the
development and promotion of free industrial zones.
Mr Rolandis assured Mr Dugasse that Cyprus and in particular the Ministry
of Commerce, Industry and Tourism would give all possible assistance to the
competent authorities of the Republic of Seychelles in the fields of trade,
industry and tourism.
