[01] President Clerides meets with Pancyprian Committee of the Relatives of Missing Persons

The President of the Republic Mr Glafcos Clerides received yesterday the Pancyprian Committee of Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners and Missing Persons. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, the Attorney General of the Republic Mr Alecos Markides, the Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Mr Christopoulos and the Chairwoman of the Committee of Greek Relatives Mrs M. Kouroupi, also attended the meeting.

Speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of the Pancyprian Committee of Relatives of Missing Persons Mr Nicos Theodosiou stated that the President of the Republic had briefed them on the two meetings he had with Mr Denktash on the issue of the missing persons and that there was an exchange of views. He also said that there would be a new meeting with President Clerides within the following week.

Mr Theodosiou said that the Committee continued to be cautiously optimistic about the prospect of resolving this humanitarian problem and that it was pleased with the President's handling of the issue of missing persons.
