[01] Day of mourning for the victims of the terrorist attack in the
USA
The European Union declared the 14th of September as a day of mourning for
the victims of the terrorist attacks in the United States.
The government of the Republic of Cyprus has decided as well to declare
this date as a day of mourning. Within the context of this decision, the
flags in all public buildings will be hanged at half-mast whilst at 12:00
noon sirens will be heard and a three-minute silence will be kept.

The people who wish to acquire information for their relatives who might
have been in the World Trade Centre in New York at the time of the

[03] Information that a member of Bin Laden's family is at the free areas
of the Cyprus Republic denied
The Ministry of Justice and Public Order issued the following statement:
Due to the publication of false information in Nicosia and Athens for the
alleged presence of a member of Bin Laden/s family in the free areas of the
Republic of Cyprus, this information is explicitly denied. From what can be
verified, there has never been any visit of a member of Bin Laden's
family.
[04] New High Commissioner of Cyprus in Malta
Ambassador Alexandros Zinon, on 13 September 2001, presented his credentials
to the Maltese President, Dr Guido de Marco, as the High Commissioner of
the Republic of Cyprus in Malta, seated in Rome.
During the presentation of Ambassador Zinon's credentials, the two men
exchanged views on issues of common interest, in particular about the two
countries/ accession course to the European Union, Euro-Mediterranean
Partnership, the forthcoming summit of the Commonwealth in Australia and
about the latest developments of the Cyprus problem.
