"By moving closer to 2004 our national aim is Cyprus' accession to the EU, the solution to the Cyprus problem", were the words emphasized, inter alia, by Greek Prime Minister, Costas Simitis, in the opening ceremony of the International Fair in Thessaloniki.

During his speech the Greek Prime Minister noted the following: "At the same time Greece/s strategical target is to consolidate her position as a guarantor of stability and peace in the Balkans, to resist the plans of changing borders, to insist to the respect of international law, to ensure that our armed forces maintain continuously their deterrence ability".
