[01] British Parliamentarians table a motion on "Nicosia Wall"
An early day motion tabled in the British House of Commons on 17 January,
says that the House "notes with regret that Nicosia approaches the
millenium as the only city in Europe still divided.
However, it says it is encouraged by the proposed resumption of proximity
talks on Cyprus on 3 December in New York and looks forward as an outcome
to the "removal of the wall and barbed wire which currently disfigure and
divide Nicosia and the rest of Cyprus".
