[01] Cyprus' stand on the issue of Kashmir
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, on Saturday received
separately the High Commissioners of India and Pakistan who conveyed to him
the views of their respective governments on the issue of Kashmir following
the infiltration of armed intruders from the Pakistani side of the Line of
Control who violated that Line.
A statement issued afterwards says that "the Government of Cyprus regards
any military action to change the status quo as irresponsible. The
Government of Cyprus calls therefore for the immediate end of these actions,
the immediate cessation of any support towards the intruders from the part
of the Line they came from, the restoration of the Line of Control and its
full respect and adherence to the principles of the Lehore Declaration".
