Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides welcomed yesterday the statements made by the Israeli President on Cyprus' European prospect and described his visit as "very important". Asked to comment if President Weizman's assurances that "the Israeli- Turkish military agreement does not concern any third party least of all Cyprus" have allayed President Clerides' concerns, Mr Stylianides said that this depends on future developments. [02] Kasoulides-Matutes hold talks in MadridCyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides discussed yesterday in Madrid Cypru's E.U. accession course and the Cyprus problem with his Spanish counterpart Abel Matutes .During their meeting Mr. Kasoulides briefed Mr. Matutes on the latest UN initiative on Cyprus, aimed at breaking the current deadlock.The two Foreign Ministers also discussed ways of further enhancing bilateral relations as well as bilateral co-operation within the framework of the Barcelona process in view of the forthcoming meeting in Valencia (Spain). Replying to questions during a press conference, Mr Kasoulides reminded that President Clerides' proposal for the participation of Turkish Cypriots in the country's negotiating team for EU talks remains on the table. Mr Kasoulides' visit to Madrid is part of a European tour aimed at discussing the Republic's EU accession course and the Cyprus problem.
