[01] EU Council adopts CETA by written procedure

The Council of the EU adopted on Friday night, by written procedure, a package of decisions on the comprehensive economic and trade agreement with Canada (CETA), which includes a decision onsignatureof the agreement, a decision on theprovisional applicationof the agreement and a decision to request theconsent of the European Parliament for the conclusionof the agreement.

The representatives of the member states also adopted ajoint interpretative instrument. This instrument, which is a joint text with Canada, will provide a binding interpretation of CETA´s terms on specific issues.
