    Switzerland has assured the United Nations of its assistance with the Cyprus process on request, Pierre-Alain Eltschinger, spokesperson of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs had told CNA.

    Responding to a question by CNA in view of the fact that Switzerland will host on November 7-11 the ongoing Cyprus talks, Eltschinger, also noted that the extent of this support will depend on the needs of the negotiators.

    "We can confirm that Switzerland has assured the UN of its assistance with the Cyprus process on request.

    US Senator Robert Menendez, expressed his support to the efforts of President Anastasiades to solve the Cyprus problem and stressed that on his part he will help in every possible way through the US Senate, to achieve the solution.

    According to an official announcement, during his meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, Menendez showed great interest in the developments concerning the Cyprus issue and congratulated President Anastasiades for his tireless efforts aimed at resolving the problem.

    During the meeting, the President briefed Menendez about the current situation of the talks for a solution of the Cyprus problem and the course of negotiations.

    UN Secretary General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide has said that the Cyprus talks session that will take place in Switzerland on November 7-11 is important because it will give even better clarity on whether the goal to achieve a solution in the course of this year is achievable or not.

    The UN-led Cyprus peace talks will continue in Mont Pelerin, in Switzerland, on 7 - 11 November, the UN announced on Wednesday evening, following a meeting between Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.
