  • [01] Bicommunal poetry and music event takes place in Nicosia

    Poetry is the music of the soul Bicommunal Committee of Culture co chairperson Androulla Vassiliou said, on Monday evening, addressing an event of poetry and music, in the old town of Nicosia, hosted by the Literary Union of Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriot Artists and Writers Union.

    Justifiably, she said the Committee wanted to organise an event which would focus on poetry and music.

    Referring to the aims of the Committee which is to contribute to the prevalence of peace and the reunification of the island, she completed her address using the lyrics of a poem by Palestinian poet Suheir Hammad.

    The number of companies filed for bankruptcy in the first 9 months of 2016 reached 82, marking a downward trend, according to the Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver.

    The total number of companies that would filed for bankruptcy by the end of the year is not expected to reach 136, which was the number of those companies in 2015. In 2014 the same number was 163 and in 2013 was 189.

    [03] Bills for Deputy Ministries to be put before Cabinet soon, President says

    The bills for the establishment of three Deputy Ministries in Cyprus ( Tourism, Development and Shipping) will be put before the Cabinet for approval soon, the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades said on Monday evening, at the General Assembly of the Association of Large Investment Projects.

    The President`s speech was read by Constantinos Petrides, Deputy Minister to the President.

    The President also announced that a visa collection centre will open early November in Shanghai, following the one which operates in Beijing.
