    The President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades held talks with the President of Ireland Michael Higgins, in the context of a two-day official visit to Dublin.

    A press release says that the President was officially welcomed during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace. He was accompanied by his spouse Andri Anastasiades and the members of the Cyprus delegation.

    They were welcomed by President Higgins and his spouse Sabina Higgins.

    The President of the Republic then signed the Book of Visitors of the Presidential Palace.

    President Anastasiades wrote the following in the Book of Visitors:

    "I express my thanks to the President of Ireland for the warm welcome at the Presidential Palace. I hope that this official visit will strengthen further the already excellent relations between Cyprus and Ireland for the benefit of our people, as ...

    The main challenges the European Union is facing these days relate to unemployment, migration and security, according to the head of the European People's Party (EPP), the biggest political group at the European Parliament, German Euro MP Manfred Webber.

    Addressing a group of Cypriot and Greek journalists, participating in a three-day seminar on the Future of Europe, organised by the European Parliament, he said "the biggest challenge is jobs," adding that the EU is trying to create a single market. He referred to the Juncker plan, saying that "we want to double the amount of money for investment", noting at the same time that the EU also needs reform.
