    The inhumane policy which the occupation force maintains on the missing persons issue is leading efforts to find a solution to this humanitarian issue to the extreme, said Saturday Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Issues and Overseas Cypriots Photis Photiou and warned that in 2017 the laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) might not have any remains for identification.

    Speaking in Nicosia at the burial of the remains of Yiannis Petrides, who went missing during the 1974 Turkish invasion of the island, and his remains were identified with the DNA method, Photiou said finding remains of Greek Cypriots missing persons is dramatically decreasing from year to year, noting that around one thousand people are still unaccounted for.

    He also said there is a possibility that in 2017 the laboratory of CMP might not have any remains of Greek Cypr ...
