    The President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades and the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci meet anew on Thursday, in the framework of ongoing UN-backed talks for a Cyprus settlement.

    The meeting is expected to start at 11.00am local time (8.00 am GMT) at the premises of the now defunct Nicosia airport.

    In statements to the press following the previous meeting last week, President Anastasiades reassured that no interim agreement can take place and that with the T/c leader they had discussed issues concerning competencies of the central government, of the constituent states, but also the responsibility that the state will have toward international obligations, so that there will be an oversight for the implementation of the obligations of the federal Republic of Cyprus.
