    Cyprus' Finance Minister Harris Georgiades called for continuation of assistance to Greece, IMF participation before the Eurogroup meeting which took place earlier today in Luxembourg.

    "I hope that we will receive a good report on sufficient progress. It should be understood that Greece, the Greek economy, should become more competitive, more productive and for that we need an ambitious reform agenda.

    [02] CoE SG in Cyprus on Friday

    Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will meet with Cypriot government officials on Friday 14 October, to discuss the upcoming Cypriot chairmanship of the Council of Europe (from 22 November 2016 to 19 May 2017).

    The chairmanship will address several key human rights issues, from detention of irregular migrants facing deportation, to freedom of expression and new trends on the Internet.

    According to a press release issued by the CoE, the Secretary General will hold meetings with the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades , the President of the House of Representatives, Demetris Syllouris, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulides and the Minister of Education and Culture, Costas Kadis.

    [03] Eurogroup: The ESM Board of directors will approve the 2,8 billion trance to Greece in October

    The Eurogroup welcomes the implementation by the Greek authorities of the set of 15 milestones in the context of the first review of the ESM program, according to written statement, following a two hour ministerial meeting.

    According to the statement, the Eurogroup commends the Greek authorities for adopting the necessary further measures to reform the pension system and the energy sector, to strengthen bank governance, to fully establish the new independent Revenue Agency and to proceed with the privatisation programme. The Eurogroup also notes the further progress in the set-up of the Privatisation and Investment Fund - the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP).
