[01] Cyprus Shipping Chamber celebrates 25 years of history
Shipping industry's prospects are "at least positive", as they are
attached to the stabilization and the imminent rise in global freight
markets, as the world is emerging from the global financial crisis that
started in 2008, Cyprus Shipping Chamber Director General Thomas Kazakos
said in a press conference.
He pointed out that the Cyprus shipping will gain momentum from the
country's offshore natural gas prospects.
Kazakos said that despite the decisions of Cyprus' lenders that brought
about a shattering blow to the island's over-sized banking sector no
shipping company left the island.
[02] Defence Minister: 2014 a year of important decisions for Cyprus
Defence Minister Photis Photiou has said that undoubtedly 2014 will be
a year of important decisions for the Cyprus problem.
He noted that "we do not endorse the view that the process of the talks
can turn into a game of political expediencies", and reiterated that the
Greek Cypriot side aims at reaching a settlement that will provide for
a single sovereignty, a single citizenship and a single international
personality of the Republic of Cyprus, a settlement that will promote
peace coexistence without rivalries, barbed wires and dividing lines.
