[01] Cyprus University of Technology awarded with DS LabelCyprus University of Technology has been awarded the DS Label (Diploma Supplement Label) by the European Commission.According to a press release issued Tuesday, the Commission (DG Education and Culture) awards labels to Higher Education Institutions that apply the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System and/or the Diploma Supplement correctly in all respects. The ECTS and Diploma Supplement Labels are honorary distinctions, they are given to all the graduates of CUT along with their diplomas. Students are thus facilitated in case they want to use their diplomas in any other country than the one which has issued them. [02] Cairo Chamber of Commerce delegation visits CyprusThe Cairo Chamber of Commerce leadership will pay on Thursday, January 23, a three day visit to Larnaca, during which a Memorandum of Cooperation is expected to be signed with the city's Chamber of Commerce and Industry.According to an announcement by the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the agreement will pave the way for closer links between the two Chambers, aiming at promoting cooperation in all sectors of the economy. It is added that the decision to sign the MoC was taken after contacts held between the two Chambers, that intensified their cooperation in 2013, following an agreement between the two Boards. [03] Nearly 100 participants to launch the Famagusta Ecocity ProjectApproximately 100 participants will take part in the five-day Famagusta Ecocity Project Design Studio launching on Thursday to draft a range of design proposals for turning the ghost town of Varosha and the wider Famagusta area into a model reunited ecocity, fit for the 21st century.According to a press release, the design studio, led by distinguished MIT professor and ecocity specialist Jan Wampler, will work with 16 architecture graduate students from the University of South Florida, 11 Cypriot students, both Greek and Turkish-Cypriot, as well as dozens of stakeholders and experts from both communities. "Our aim is not to come up with a single plan but to promote a dialogue between stakeholders, experts, designers and interested members of the public on the range of possibilities that this unique and deeply loved city offers not only Cyprus, but the entire region" said project founder and filmmaker, Vasia Markides, who will be recording the studio for an upcoming documentary with money raised from a successful crowd-funded Kickstarter campaign.
