[01] Cypriot MPs to attend COSAC conference
The President and members of the Cyprus House Committee of Foreign
Affairs will attend the 49th Conference of Parliamentary Committees for
Union Affairs (COSAC), to be held on June 23-25, in the framework of
the Irish EU Presidency.
According to an official announcement, Cypriot MPs will present during
the meeting the results of the COSAC conference, held in Nicosia last
April, in the framework of Cyprus EU Presidency. It is added that the
meeting will also focus on the achievements of and prospects for the EU,
the future of European integration, and the EU's neighborhoods policy,
among others.
[02] New Cyprus Ambassador to US visits community in New York
New Cyprus Ambassador to the US George Shakallis discussed Friday with
Archbishop Demetrios of America the contribution of the diaspora in
helping Cyprus out of its difficult economic condition.
According to an official announcement, the Ambassador also attended a
press conference by the Archbishop, concerning a fund raising initiative
of the diaspora to support people in Cyprus. Shakallis met moreover with
Greek and Greek Cypriot media representatives and visited the "New York
Times" headquarters, briefing the newspaper's editors over the condition
in Cyprus.
