    The Council of Ministers has appointed three members of the Central Bank's Board of Directors.

    According to an official announcement, issued on Tuesday, the Cabinet appointed on May 24 Alexander Michaelides, Michael Spanos and Stelios Kiliaris as the new members of the CB's Board of Directors.

    With this appointment, the Government replaced the three members of the Board, Andreas Matsis, Charalampos Achniotis and Louis Christofides, who had resigned.

    [02] Cyprus President meets with Chinese investors

    A delegation of the Hong Kong based company "China Glory National Investement" which is investing in the Venus Rock Golf Resort project in the district area of Paphos was received by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on Monday at the Presidential Palace.

    The delegation was headed by Chinese investor Charles Zhang and President of the Cypriot company Aristo Developers Ltd, Theodoros Aristodemou. Speaking to the press following the meeting, Aristodemou said that the Chinese investors have confidence in Cyprus and they want to invest in other projects as well, however he abstained from giving any more details, stressing that we all ought to be patient and very careful.

    He said that until the completion of the project in the next two to three years, its cost might reach 1.5 billion euro, adding that Cyprus will benefit in numerous ways via the employment of local staff and tax money.

    [03] Cypriot households pay most expensive electricity in the EU

    Cypriot households pay the most expensive electricity in the EU, according to figures by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

    In the EU27, household electricity prices rose by 6.6% between the second half of 2011 and the second half of 2012, after an increase of 6.3% between the second half of 2010 and 2011.

    Between the second half of 2011 and the second half of 2012, the highest increases in household electricity prices in national currency were registered in Cyprus (+21%), Greece (+15%), Italy (+11%), Ireland and Portugal (both +10%), Bulgaria, Spain and Poland (all +9%).
