The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) has welcomed the fact that Cyprus ranks first in the list of countries with the cleanest beaches in Europe.

CTO Director General Marios Hannides said in a statement that the fact that the European Commission and the European Environment Agency have certified the excellent quality of Cyprus bathing waters is an honour and a remarkable distinction for the country.

He noted that through this certification, foreign travellers have another important reason, among many other reasons, to choose Cyprus for their holidays. "Our country is a quality destination and this becomes clear through a series of parameters," he added.
