[01] House President to be represented at meeting in Marseilles
President of the House of Representatives Yiannakis Omirou, deeming
that he should stay in Cyprus due to the developments in the economy,
has cancelled his participation in the First Summit of the Speakers
of the Parliaments of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the
Mediterranean, which will take place in Marseilles on April 6 and 7.
Thus, Omirou will be represented at the Summit by Chairman of the
Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities between
Men and Women and Vice-President of the House Sophocles Phyttis, who
will be departing for Marseilles on Friday.
The Summit, convened by President of the European Parliament and
President-in-Office of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the
Mediterranean Martin Schulz, is to be held in the context of the 2nd
Mediterranean Forum of the Anna Lindh Foundation, organised at the same
time in Marseilles.
