  • [01] House President to be represented at meeting in Marseilles

President of the House of Representatives Yiannakis Omirou, deeming that he should stay in Cyprus due to the developments in the economy, has cancelled his participation in the First Summit of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, which will take place in Marseilles on April 6 and 7.

Thus, Omirou will be represented at the Summit by Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities between Men and Women and Vice-President of the House Sophocles Phyttis, who will be departing for Marseilles on Friday.

The Summit, convened by President of the European Parliament and President-in-Office of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean Martin Schulz, is to be held in the context of the 2nd Mediterranean Forum of the Anna Lindh Foundation, organised at the same time in Marseilles.
