A Eurogroup decision on a haircut of banking deposits in Cyprus has spread fears to tourist agents in Russia and the UK, Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) Marios Hannides has said.

In statements he made to CNA here on Tuesday Hannides said that a CTO delegation headed by himself and CTO President Alecos Orountiotis travels to Russia to take part in its Tourism Exhibition but mainly in order to put to rest tourist agents' fears on Cyprus' safety as a tourist destination.

One of the delegations' goals during its visit to Russia he noted is "to reassure Russian tourist agents on the investments they have already made in Cyprus". He explained that many Russian tourist agents have invested millions in Cyprus already on hotel maintenance, booking advances etc.
