    The presidential campaign for the run-off election on Sunday wraps up at midnight and all is set for the voting process.

    The two remaining candidates Nicos Anastasiades, President of the Democratic Rally and Stavros Malas, former health minister in President Demetris Christofias' Cabinet, will cross swords in the last live televised debate on Friday night.

    The Election services are all geared up for the second round and everyone expresses the hope that once again everything will run smoothly. Polling stations will open at 07.00 am local time (05.00 GMT) and will close at 06.00 pm with a break between 12 and 13.00. The final result is expected to be announced at around 07.00 pm Sunday night.

    The proclamation ceremony of the seventh President of the Republic of Cyprus will take place at around 10.00pm local time. In Sunday's elections a total of 1.130 polling centres will be set up, including 40 that will operate abroad.

    The number of voters are 545,491. In the first round of the presidential elections held 17th of February, Nicos Anastasiades, also supported by the Democratic Party, got 45.46% of the vote, while AKEL-backed Malas got 26.91%. EDEK supported Yiorgos Lillikas failed to make it to the run-off election.

    [02] Cyprus' oil stocks amount to 208 thousand metric tons

    Cyprus maintains oil stocks amounting to 208 thousand metric tons, stored in the premises of the Cyprus Petroleum Storage Company in the coastal city of Larnaca and in refineries in Greece, according to the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Neoclis Sylikiotis.

    The remaining of the oil stocks Cyprus is obliged to maintain is covered by operational stocks of the Cyprus Electricity Authority and rented stocks abroad.

    Addressing the General Assembly of the Cyprus Organisation for Storage and Management of Oil Stocks (COSMOS), on Friday, Commerce Minister said that currently COSMOS is faced with two challenges. First its participation in the oil terminal to be built in Vasilikos where national stocks of oil will be stored and second the harmonization with the European Directive on the method for calculating stockholding obligations and the method for calculating the level of stocks held in case of emergency.

    [03] Cyprus participates in International Month of La Francophonie

    A series of events, including competitions, cinema, music, lectures, book fairs and literature, will take place in Cyprus as of March 1st, in the framework of the International Month of La Francophonie.

    Speaking during a press conference, Education and Culture Minister George Demosthenous said that this year's events will take place under the slogan "The French language is an opportunity for the young people: The young people are an opportunity for the French language".

    He noted that learning the French language is an important aspect of the Cypriot education system and marks a valuable opening to the modern world, allowing the enhancement of the dialogue with other countries and cultures.
