[01] Cyprus among best performers of EU law applicationCyprus is among the EU member states with the best performance in transposing EU rules into national law on time, according to the European Commission's Internal Market Scoreboard, published Tuesday. The Internal Market Scoreboard was first published fifteen years ago and today`s edition shows great improvement by member states. The EU average transposition deficit has decreased from 6.3% in 1997 to a record new level of 0.6%, i.e. below the 1% target agreed by the European Heads of State and Government in 2007 and close to the 0.5% deficit proposed in the Single Market Act in April 2011. Cypriot parliamentarians to take part in OSCE meeting (φωτό - Βιέννα ή ΚΣ ΟΑΣΕ) --------------- Parliamentarians Christos Stylianides and Sophoclis Fittis depart for Vienna on Wednesday to take part in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly`s 12th Winter Meeting, from 21-22 February, at the Hofburg Congress Centre in Vienna. During the Winter Meeting there will be separate meetings of the three General Committees on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment, as well as meetings of the Committees on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions and General Committee on Political Affairs and Security. According to an official statement, Stylianides, as the rapporteur at the General Committee on Economic Affairs, will present the general framework of his report which will be examined at the 22nd annual OSCE PA meeting in July in Constantinople. Building permits decrease in 2012 compared to 2011 (φωτό - κτίσματα) ------------ The number of building permits in Cyprus recorded a decrease in 2012 compared to 2011. According to data issued by the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus, during the period January - December 2012, 7.172 building permits were issued, registering a decrease of 4,4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
