[01] Hollande/Schulz ready for compromise on MFFFrench President Francois Hollande and European Parliament President Martin Schultz expressed on Tuesday their readiness to reach a compromise on the Multiannual Financial Framework, to be discussed at European Council level at the end of the week.Speaking during a joint press conference, after Hollande's first appearance before the European Parliament plenary, Schultz said that the European Parliament is ready for a compromise, noting at the same time that the institution would not accept a compromise at any cost. To this extent he recalled that one euro spent as part of the EU budget means that 3 euro is spent by the private sector. Based on the seasonally adjusted data that shows the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for January 2013 increased to 40.496 persons in comparison to 40.074 in the previous month [04] Commission recalls its decisions about the BoCThe Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission has recalled its findings regarding two inquiries in relation to the Bank of Cyprus, following a Court ruling.CNA has learnt that the Court decision came after an appeal by the Bank of Cyprus' legal advisor, who stated that the inquiries of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission began before the official publication of the appointment of one of the members of the Commission's board, thus any decisions taken by the Commission are invalid. One of the Commission`s inquiries, which began in July, concerns the decision of the Bank of Cyprus to seek state support of 500 million euro, instead of 200 million as it had initially announced. The second inquiry concerns the conditions under which the Bank of Cyprus bought Greek government bonds and whether the Bank had made the necessary announcements to the investors.
