Charalambous, who was speaking during a Press conference held Friday, said that an "important milestone" in the Presidency's work is the general approach reached by the Ministers of Employment and Social Policy on the proposal of the EU Electromagnetic Field Directive on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from electromagnetic fields.

The initial Directive (Directive 2004/20/EP) was never put into force, due to problems acknowledged after its approval, whereas the new proposal of the Directive was adopted by the Commission in June 2011 and had been under discussion since.
