President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades has appointed Sotos Zackheos,
former Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, as Cyprus President's
Special Envoy to Russia.
According to an official announcement, the appointment will not have a
cost on the state budget since Zakheos will not receive a salary from
the government for his services.

Cyprus House of Representatives hailed Nelson Mandela as a top personality
that will remain for ever as a shining symbol of struggle and sacrifice
for freedom and justice.
In a written statement, House President Yiannakis Omirou described
Mandela, the historic leader of South Africa as one of the greatest
figures of the history of mankind.
"He indelibly stamped the struggle of his people and the peoples of the
world who fought for equality, justice, elimination of odious regimes
of racial discrimination and the implementation of human rights," the
House President noted.
