Former President of the Republic of Cyprus Glafcos Clerides will be
remembered in Germany as an outstanding personality, who has served his
country and his people with love and loyalty throughout his political
life.
This is outlined in a written statement of German Ambassador in Nicosia,
Dr. Gabriela Guellil, who notes that "it was with deep sorrow that we
learned of the passing away of Glafcos Clerides, former President of
the Republic of Cyprus. Our thoughts in this moment are with his friends
and family".
"President Clerides will be remembered in Germany as an outstanding
personality who has served his country and his people with love and
loyalty throughout his political life. With wisdom and vision he paved
Cyprus' way to membership of the European Union and has thereby written
history", she points out.
