[01] Acting President says Clerides was integral part of Cypriot history
Former President Glafcos Clerides has been an integral and prominent
part of Cyprus' history, Acting President of the Republic and House
President Yiannakis Omirou said.
In a written statement, Omirou expresses deep sorrow for the death of
former Cyprus President Clerides, noting that Cyprus is poorer due to
his loss.
According to Omirou, Clerides has been part of Cyprus' turbulent history,
from the days of the national liberation struggle, to the establishment
of the Republic and the dramatic events that followed, culminating to
the 1974 national tragedy.
