  • [01] Foreign Ministry issues travel advice for Egypt

    The Foreign Ministry issued on Friday a travel advice for Egypt calling on the Cypriot citizens, who are permanent residents or intend to travel to Egypt, to avoid non essential travel to certain areas in the country, to monitor news reports for any developments, and follow instructions of the local authorities.

    The Ministry said that tourist areas including Giza 6th October City, the Giza Pyramids, Luxor, Aswan, Sharm el Sheikh and the St. Catherine's Monastery in Mount Sinai are fully accessible and operational.

    [02] Tourist arrivals and revenue up, CyStat says

    Tourist arrivals in October increased by 4.4% and revenue from tourism in August and September also increased by 12% and 21.9%, respectively, Cyprus Statistical Service data show on Friday.

    Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) officials expressed their satisfaction over the data, whilst warning at the same time that there is no room for complacency.

    On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 273,587 in October 2013 compared to 261,997 in October 2012, recording an increase of 4.4%.

    [03] Cypriot's trips abroad reduce by 8.8% in October

    The number of Cyprus residents travelling abroad was reduced by 8.8% in October 2013, compared to the corresponding month last year, according to data released Friday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

    On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey, 95,788 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in October 2013 compared to 105,059 in the corresponding month last year.

    In October 2013 there was a decrease of 9.8% on the trips of residents to Greece (30,830 in October 2013 compared to 34,196 in October 2012) and 15.8% decrease on the trips to the United Kingdom (24,382 compared to 28,973 last year).
