  • [01] Flights from Russia to Cyprus liberalized

The Republic of Cyprus has succeeded through persistent efforts in liberalising chartered flights with Russia during the winter season.

The liberalization of flights from Russia to Cyprus has been made possible after a relevant request submitted by Cyprus had been accepted by the Russian Federation. The agreement will be signed on Monday at the Ministry of Communications and Works in Nicosia.

This development will benefit more the free Famagusta district, on the east coast of Cyprus, given that with the implementation of open skies policy the seasonal unemployment would be tackled.

In statements to CNA, Minister of Communications and Works Tasos Mitsopoulos said that with the liberalization of flights practically we can tackle the problem of seasonality, bring more tourists on the island and keep the hotel units open.
