[01] Foreign Minister signs book of condolences for Mazowiecki
Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides signed on Thursday the book of
condolences which opened at the embassy of Poland for the death of
former Prime Minister of Poland Tadeusz Mazowiecki.
He wrote that Mazowiecki was a great man, who particularly marked the
history of Poland as a member of the solidarity movement, "contributing
with his cultural and academic background in the fight against the Soviet
Union and communism".
He was the first Prime Minister of the liberated Poland leading the
country during the first steps towards democratisation, Kasoulides noted,
expressing his sincere condolences to the government and the people of
Poland, to his family and the loved ones he leaves behind.
