  • [01] MFA issues travel advice for Mozambique

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advice for the Republic of Mozambique.

    According to the travel advice "the citizens of the Republic of Cyprus, who are permanent residents, travelling or intend to travel to Mozambique, are advised to exercise caution, to monitor news reports for any development, follow instructions of the local Authorities and inform the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in South Africa for their travel or presence in Mozambique."

    In case of emergency, Cypriot citizens can contact the Crisis Management Department at the MFA on +357 22801000 or Duty Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on +357 99660129 (after working hours) and the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in South Africa.

    [02] Defence Minister meets with Danish Ambassador

    The Cyprus issue, the financial crisis and the upcoming EU Summit next December were on the agenda of a meeting Defense Minister Photis Photiou had Friday with the Danish Ambassador Casper Klynge.

    According to an official statement, the Minister and the Danish Ambassador reaffirmed the close ties between the two countries and discussed ways of further enhancing these relations.

    Referring to the Cyprus problem, the Minister said that the Government aims to a just and viable solution , on the basis of the UN resolutions.

    He added that we are ready for the resumption of the talks, however he pointed out that the negotiations must be well prepared and the basis bust be clear and agreed.

    Photiou expressed his gratitude to Denmark for its support to the Cyprus solution and its contributions to UNFICYP (United Nations forces in Cyprus).
