[01] EU committee to evaluate Pafos2017 draft programme
The European Commission committee on the "European Capital of Culture"
will evaluate on Wednesday the programme currently being drafted by the
south-western coastal town of Pafos, as the Capital of Culture for 2017.
In statements to CNA, Chairman of the "Pafos 2017" Christos Patsalides
said that during the evaluation, the work that has already been completed
will be presented on the basis of the folder submitted by Pafos. The
committee will also be briefed on future plans.
He noted that they will refer to the financial difficulties which
Cyprus faces and which affect the whole project as it cannot secure
any significant financial support from the private sector and is mainly
supported by state subsidy.
