[01] Cypriot MPs to attend OSCE Parliamentary Assembly autumn session
Members of the Parliament Sophoclis Fyttis, Kyriakos Hadjigiannis, and
Andreas Kafkalias, members of the Cypriot delegation at the Organization
for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly
depart on Saturday for Budva, Montenegro to attend the autumn session
of the Assembly to be held October 13-15.
The OSCE Mediterranean Parliamentary Forum will convene in the framework
of the session to discuss the situation in Syria. Under the theme "The
Mediterranean: A Union of Civilizations," the debate will be moderated
by OSCE PA President and Speaker of the Montenegrin Parliament Ranko
Krivokapic, following his opening remarks, and will include the
participation of Montenegro`s Foreign Minsiter, Igor Luksic.
On 14 October, Krivokapic will open the parliamentary conference on
"Addressing Transnational Threats and Protecting Human Rights: The Role
of the OSCE." Session one of that conference will be chaired by OSCE PA
Vice-President Alain Neri (MP, France) and will include the participation
of Alexey Lyzhenkov, Co-ordinator of Activities to Address Transnational
Threats at the OSCE Secretariat. Session two of the parliamentary
conference will be chaired by PA Vice-President George Tsereteli (MP,
Georgia) while the third session will be chaired by Vice-President Isabel
Pozuelo (MP, Spain). Session three will include an address by the OSCE`s
new High Commissioner on National Minorities, Astrid Thors.
