[01] Cooperation between Cyprus, Greece and Israel could promote stability
in the region, says Greek Energy Minister
Greek Energy Minister Yiannis Maniatis has expressed his conviction that
cooperation between Cyprus, Greece and Israel in energy and environmental
issues, could promote stability in the region.
In an interview with CNA, on the occasion of the signing of a Memorandum
of Understanding between the three countries, Maniatis pointed out that
energy sector is undoubtedly a key area of cooperation between the
states in Europe and elsewhere, noting also the importance the issue
has in all EU Councils.
The Greek Minister also said that the developments regarding the natural
gas reserves in Cyprus and Israel, and hopefully in Greece in the near
future, constitute a positive progress for the whole of Europe and for
Greece and Cyprus in particular as EU member states
