[01] FM concludes meetings in Rome
Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, currently in Rome, held a series of
meetings on Wednesday to discuss issues of mutual interest. The Cypriot
Minister met with his Italian counterpart Emma Bonino, at the Italian
Foreign Ministry headquarters.
The main topics of discussion were the need to increased cooperation
among EU Mediterranean states to help tackle special issues such as
illegal immigration and the economy.
They also examined energy issues and referred to the active participation
of Eni S.p.A., an Italian multinational oil and gas company, in the Cyprus
EEZ plots, an element which further strengthens existing close cooperation
between the two countries, an official statement said here Thursday.
During his contacts in the Italian capital, the Cypriot Minister met
with the country's defence Minister, Mario Mauro and discussed issues
concerning security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean. Today,
Kasoulides will meet Minister of European Affairs Enzo Moavero, President
of ENI, Giuseppe Recchi, the President of the Committee of Foreign Affairs
of the Italian Parliament Fabrizio Cicchitto and Deputy Speaker of the
Senate Linda Lanzillotta.
