[01] Cyprus ranks 14th in the Mediterranean Games
Cyprus ranked 14th in the Mediterranean Games which finished Sunday
in Mersin, Turkey. Cyprus has won a total of seven medals, two gold,
two silver and three bronze medals.
Eleni Artymata won gold medal in women's 200 m, Nektaria Panagi won also
a gold medal in women's long jump. George Achilleos won silver in men's
skeet. The second silver was won by women in 4X100 relay race. Cyprus
won bronze medals with Kyriaki Koutouki in women's tae kwonto, Anna
Ioannou in rowing and Eleni Artymata in 100 m.
The Cypriot team, comprising 52 athletes, is expected to arrive in Cyprus
later tonight. Italy ranked first in the Games with a total of 186 medals,
70 of which gold, followed by Turkey with 129 medals, 47 of which gold and
France with 95 medals, of which 25 are gold. The Spanish city Tarragona,
which will host the 18th Mediterranean Games in 2017.
