[01] Minister to report on work done by Cyprus Presidency on Home
Affairs issues
Interior Minister Eleni Mavrou flies to Brussels where she will present a
report on the work done by the Cyprus Presidency of the EU on Home Affairs
issues before the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs
(LIBE) of the European Parliament.
According to an official announcement issued here today, the Minister
is expected to stress the significant progress that has been achieved
with regard to the objective of establishing a Common European Asylum
System. She will also refer to the body of laws regarding legal
immigration to the initiatives of the Presidency in relation to combat
trafficking in persons and promote the integration of immigrants.
She will also brief the Committee members on the efforts to tackle illegal
immigration and the sincere and genuine solidarity towards Member States
subject to particular pressure as well as to the progress achieved
in Regulations relating to the Home Affairs Financing Tools under the
Multiannual Financial Framework.
